We have another L Word sequel update. On Wednesday May 22, Deadline reported that the new show will be called The L Word: Generation Q and debuts this Autumn on Showtime, running for eight episodes.
The pilot will be directed by Steph Green, who has directed episodes of The Americans, The Deuce and Billions. Her 2007 Irish short film New Boy was nominated for an Academy Award for best short film, live action.
As well as executive producing, Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey will return as their original characters, alongside “a new generation of self-possessed LGBTQIA characters experiencing love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in Los Angeles.”

In January, fan favourite Sarah Shahi, who played Shane’s love interest Carmen, hinted to reporters at the winter Television Critics Association press tour that she will be a part of the sequel.
“This was something that was brought up in a discussion (with original L Word cast members) last year.”
“The girls were talking to me about it, and my involvement was discussed very heavily that I would be in it. I think they want to keep it that way, and so does Showtime.”
Not long before more details emerge…filming begins this summer.
