Happiest Season was written by out actor/writer/producer Clea DuVall and writing partner Mary Holland and will be directed by DuVall. Stewart will play a young woman whose plan to propose to her girlfriend at the family Christmas party goes haywire after she discovers her girlfriend isn’t out to her conservative parents yet. “Happiest Season is a refreshingly modern comedy about the complexity of navigating romantic relationships and family dynamics,” TriStar Pictures president Hannah Minghella told Variety earlier this year, after acquiring the world wide rights to the script. “Clea and Mary have written a hilarious and heart-warming movie full of emotional truth that is sure to become a holiday classic."
