Apple Celebrates Australian Marriage Equality With New Iphone Ad First Dance

Apple is celebrating Australian marriage equality with its new Iphone X ad campaign 'First Dance.' The ads feature footage of real same-sex couples enjoying the first dance at their weddings. All of the footage was shot on the Iphone X and the soundtrack is Courtney Barnett’s cover of ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ by INXS.

The campaign features a 60 second ad, plus three shorter versions which each feature one couple. The couples are Meg and Ann-Marie, Nick and Rob and Antony and Ron.

In 2014, Apple CEO Tim Cook supported the fight for equality in America by publicly outing himself in a powerful essay for Bloomberg, becoming the first openly gay CEO of a fortune 500 company. In 2016, Apple joined the campaign to bring marriage equality to Australia.

“While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven’t publicly acknowledged it either, until now. So let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me," he wrote.

“I don’t consider myself an activist, but I realise how much I’ve benefited from the sacrifice of others.”

“So if hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on their equality, then it’s worth the trade-off with my own privacy.”

I suggest you grab the tissues before you watch...
