Fitness guru Jillian Michaels, 44 and her fiancée Heidi Rhoades, 36 have called off their wedding. Michaels took to Instagram on Friday to announce the split.
"Hey tribe, you've been with me through it all so I'm sharing some news with you...Heidi and I have been split for a while now," Michaels wrote on Instagram.
"We've found we're better friends and parents living apart than staying together. Life and people change but our love for one another and commitment to raising our two kids as an inseparable team remains. Thanks for always loving and supporting us, the feeling is mutual!"
The couple have been together for almost nine years and have two children - daughter Lukensia, 8, whom Michaels adopted from Haiti in 2012 and son Phoenix, 6, whom Rhoades gave birth to the same month.
Michaels proposed on an episode of her reality TV show Just Jillian in 2016. She hired a private cinema and played a romantic video montage of the couple's life together, which was edited to look like a movie trailer.
“I know I’m (a jerk) a lot of the time, but if you will continue to put up with me, I would like you to marry me,” Michaels said after the video aired.
At the time of the engagement, Jillian said of her fiancée: "Heidi is the perfect person for me. The only place where there's like a solace—a safe haven—is with my family. And Heidi is the nucleus of that family. She's the glue that really holds everything together and I think without that, I would be lost."
